Carbon and Energy Saving Trial

Free cost-cutting and energy-saving support for small and medium UK hospitality businesses, funded by the UK Government

We’re offering free carbon footprinting and energy-saving support to 615 small and medium-sized hospitality businesses as part of a 12-month trial, fully funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).

We’ll pinpoint where your profits are being lost through energy waste and show you exactly how to fix it.

DID YOU KNOW?

The average pub loses £2,000 a year through energy waste.

That's equivalent to pouring 16,000 pints down the drain.

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

Here’s what we need from you:

(1) Time with our expert coaches
(2) Quick before and after impact reporting
(3) A commitment to cutting carbon and energy waste
(4) A smart meter. Unsure? Check out the section below.

You'll be engaging with our expert coaches over 3 months, receiving nearly seven hours of support each month, including surveys and coaching calls.

DO YOU HAVE A SMART METER?

All trialists must have a smart meter. There are two main types of meters, both which are fine for us to use. These are called SMETS meters. They allow your half-hourly (HH) energy use to be recorded and transmitted to your energy provider.

SMETS meters have a digital display and often have SMET in the model name/number.

If you are unsure, do the following:

(1) Check your bills.
(2) Does it mention "automatic or smart readings"?
(3) If you have never been asked for a meter reading, it's likely to be a smart meter.
(4) Do you see energy pattern data on your portal? This indicates you have a smart meter.
